Msgr. Charles Pope has analyzed the theology of the new, popular film Heaven is for Real for the Archdiocese of Washington. The film does espouse the belief in “universalism,” which awards the vast majority of souls the reward of Heaven, a belief that runs directly contrary to Sacred Scripture, which says that many will be lost. Monsignor teaches that faithful Catholics should resist the belief that “many” being lost actually means “just a few,” let alone “hardly anyone at all.”
